About Me   About Me
I am a teacher from Queen Elizabeth High School in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I teach social studies and a sustainable development program called SLISE (Student Led Initiatives for Sustainable Education). SLISE is a 21st century model of project-based learning that aims to extend learning beyond the 4 walls of the classroom. SLISE (Student-Led Initiatives for Sustainability Education) is an unscheduled credit-based course that works on projects in real time. It uses CTS modules which pertain to natural resources. These modules guide project-based learning around real world issues involving sustainable development.

The purpose of SLISE is to help students develop pro-environmental attitudes, knowledge and skills that become transferable to life beyond school. SLISE is a model of 21st century education which extends learning beyond the 4 walls of the classroom.

Students are connected to the world through video conferencing, field trips, presentations, conferences, websites and clinics. SLISE provides research and experimental opportunities to students who are interested in emerging renewable energy technologies, humanitarian initiatives, resource conservation and the development of water, air, soil, forests, hydrocarbons, and wildlife.
