About Me |
Who Am I??
My Bio
I am a self motivated, young dynamic youth working in the field of HIV and AIDS with six years working experience in adolescent sexual reproductive health, HIV and AIDS counseling and sensitization, life skills development, and peer to peer counseling.
I have been working with different organization and i have developed a very good perspective of youth development and empowerment. I have also worked on several youth projects in schools and in the community with different category of youth including the marginalized group.
I had work experience with the organizations listed below.
Aids Education Group for Youth (AEGY)
Working as youth peer educator, activities included sensitization of the youth from the age of 14 to 24 who are both in school and out of school. It involved one to one counseling with the clients and assessments are always done.
AIDS Information Centre, Jinja Branch.
I had work experience as Student’s Coordinator to AIDS Information Centre, Jinja Branch for a period of two (2) years from 2007-2008 while at Jinja Senior Secondary School. My duties entailed among others; Mobilization of the students for sensitization, organizing for and counseling of the students, carrying out research on the relation between HIV/AIDS and the young people.
I also took part in the post test club for the youth who have tested from the centre. Activities included counseling and guidance, drama presentation that convey HIV and AIDS information and many more others.
Currently
HIV/AIDS Educator, Hope Alive Uganda.
My responsibility concerns the day to day running of the youth activities, drawing work plans, designing projects, and seeing into it that they are correctly and timely implemented. I also work with different youth group in the community and at school on issues of HIV and AIDS, Adolescent sexual reproductive health issues, life skills and youth empowerment.
I have made it possible to organize several trainings for youth peer educators ad the general community. Read more here HAU's HIV/AID page.
Am also working on establishing and initiating a Youth Organization in my region early next year to help in addressing the increasing rates of HIV/AIDS prevalence in the community. This will made possible by engaging the marginalized youth to fight for their rights to reliable and accurate information and also advocate for better standards of health service delivery by the government and other supportive organizations.
I believe so much that if youth are given the opportunity, they are always at the forefront of fighting the scourge of HIV/AIDS and effecting positive change in the community due to the influence they have on their fellow peers.
For the two years that i have served as a volunteer peer educator for AIDS Education Group for Youth, i have realized many potentials in young people especially after receiving trainings and they have as such acted as partners for change.
With my current position as National Focal Point-Uganda, i look at so many things to contribute for to the Country and the broader GYCA.
